More about my oversized mosaic stitch scarves…

These oversized blanket scarves are soft and cosy to wear, and surprisingly light. They are easy to look after, and will last you for years if you look after them properly. Read ‘care of your scarf’ (to the right) and check out my garment care page for some laundering ‘how-to’s.

These scarves are wider and longer than a classic scarf. There are endless styling permutations - I’ve shown only a few here (above). You can find some further ideas on my blog post ‘how to wear your big scarf/blanket scarf’.

There is no wool at all in these scarves so they are not at all itchy.

They are fully washable and easy to look after. No need to dry clean.

See garment care for details.

  • These scarves are knit in 74% cotton 20% silk 3% linen 3% viscose.

  • I recommend that you hand wash your scarf in cool water (not hot) using a gentle non-biological washing powder/cleanser and rinse it thoroughly.

As an alternative to hand washing, if your washing machine has a reliable delicate/gentle programme you can use this at a low temperature with a gentle non-biological cleanser. Pop the scarf in a laundry bag or pillow slip if you are washing it with other items so nothing can catch on it to damage it.

To dry your scarf you can spin it on a slower speed and/or roll it gently in a towel - to remove most of the water.

Then lay it flat (eg on a towel) to dry fully. If needed you can gently ease it into shape and size while it’s still damp. And also if needed you can pat the edges of the scarf into shape.

You can read more general garment care information here. Or ask me - I’m always happy to help.

  • These scarves are much bigger than a typical scarf. They measure approximately 68cm wide x 180cm long.

The size means you can use your blanket scarf as a wrap on cooler days or evenings. You also have the option to wear or style it as a scarf in many different ways. Have a look at the pictures I have included above for ideas.

  • Delivery/shipping to UK mainland is currently free for full price items. If your item is in stock I usually dispatch in 2-3 days of receiving your order. Delivery within the UK usually takes 3-5 days from dispatch. You can find more detailed information on my shipping/delivery/returns page.

Destinations outside the UK add the cost of shipping at checkout. USA orders will have the tariff automatically included with shipping cost. More details can be found on my delivery/shipping/returns page.

  • If you wish you are welcome to add one of my beautiful gift boxes tied with with a ribbon of your choice to your order. If it helps, I can even send your order directly to the recipient with a gift message from you, if you’ve run out of time.

  • 1  Do I need to dry clean this scarf?

No - definitely not. Please wash it, don’t dry clean it.

    2  Is it washable?

Yes, it’s fully washable. Please see ‘care of your scarf’ above and ‘garment care’ for full details.

3  Is it suitable for vegans?

No, I’m afraid it’s not suitable for vegans as it contains silk.

4  Does it contain any wool?

No. It’s totally wool-free so it’s not all itchy.

Visit my FAQs page for more information.

  • Knitted clothes and accessories are probably the perfect example of ‘slow fashion’. I believe that we should choose the clothing we buy carefully, select items which will last, ideally keep them for years, and know how to look after each piece.

And because I knit only very small quantities of each piece, wastage is reduced, and production is more sustainable. Nothing is made in the far east, everything is handmade in Britain, slowly and carefully, and made to last.

I’m delighted to say that some of my customers are still wearing knits they bought from me 20 years ago.
