More about my triangle/handkerchief scarves…

You can arrange the ‘point’ to front, side or back, or wear the scarf over your head as a snood. Because it can't come undone it’s good for winter sports, and it’s a neat fit under a jacket or coat to add warmth when needed. But you can also wear it over your jacket or coat for a distinctive extra layer and a splash of colour.

I often take mine with me on holidays because it’s so easy to pop over my head on the plane when the air conditioning is too strong.

These scarves are knitted in 100% cotton or 60% cotton and 40% silk, depending on colour. See the photographs of the scarves on a model to show the size. There is no wool in these scarves so they are not at all itchy.

They are fully washable and easy to look after. No need to dry clean.

  • These scarves are either 100% cotton or 60% cotton and 40% silk.

  • I recommend hand washing this scarf in cool water (not hot) using a gentle non-biological washing powder/cleanser. Rinse thoroughly.

To dry your scarf - roll it gently in a towel to remove most of the water and lay it flat (eg on a towel) to dry. If needed you can gently ease or pat the edges into shape.

You can read more general garment care information here. Or ask me - I’m always happy to help.

  • These scarves are one size so they fit all sizes, and they are a pull-over-the-head style.

You can see how they look ‘in real life’ in the pictures I’ve included on this page, above.

  • 1  Do I need to dry clean this scarf?

No - definitely not. Please wash it, don’t dry clean it.

    2  Is it washable?

Yes, it’s fully washable. It is easy to wash and care for, please see ‘care of your scarf’ above and ‘garment care’ for full details.

3  Is it suitable for vegans?

The 100% cotton triangle scarves are suitable for vegans. But the cotton-silk triangle scarves aren’t suitable for vegans because they contain silk.

4  Does it contain any wool?

No. The scarf is totally wool-free so it’s not all itchy.

  • Knitted clothes and accessories are probably the perfect example of ‘slow fashion’. I believe that we should choose the clothing we buy carefully, select items which will last, ideally keep them for years, and know how to look after each piece.

And because I knit only very small quantities of each piece, wastage is reduced, and production is more sustainable. Nothing is made in the far east, everything is handmade in Britain, slowly and carefully, and made to last.

I’m delighted to say that some of my customers are still wearing knits they bought from me 20 years ago.
