British knitwear designers in 'Winter Warmers' at Artichoke Gallery
British knitwear designers in East Sussex
There's a beautiful Gallery in the lovely village of Ticehurst in East Sussex. It's called Artichoke Gallery, and it features changing exhibitions of contemporary arts and crafts by leading artists and makers. The Gallery was originally created by sculptor Vicki Atkinson in 2002; more recently Artichoke has moved to a new larger space, and Vicki has been joined in partnership by fellow artists Liz Moys and Louisa Crispin.
A nucleus of designer-makers permanently on display
Artichoke Gallery has a nucleus of designer-makers permanently on display so you can find jewellery, ceramics, and glass as well as paintings and sculpture, in addition to the changing exhibitions.
Winter warmers exhibition
The current exhibition (which runs to the end of March) is Winter Warmers. I'm really pleased to be able to say that there's a collection of my knitwear in the exhibition; Winter Warmers also features beautiful knitwear and textiles from fellow contemporary makers Katy Broomfield, Ruth Dent, Alison Dupernex, Prilly Lewis and Melissa Simpson.
Everything on display is also for sale - it's a lovely exhibition in a really beautiful space in a country village with excellent shops and pubs - what more could you want?
Definitely well worth a visit!
